Overall, I was pleased. I set out to do something very different from last year and I think I succeeded. While Jump might have seemed more elaborate, art-wise, it was far less complex a tale. Jump weighed in at a total of 98 panels.
Cubicles? 127.
Anxious for feedback, I spent my waking hours on Sunday scanning and uploading to the website. To be perfectly honest, people enjoyed it but didn’t necessarily connect with it the way they had with Jump. A few notable exceptions, but there it is.
Maybe it was because I made the protagonist an asshole.
Well, for me, I was much more satisfied with my second attempt at a 24 hour comic. By and large, I told the story I set out to tell in the way I wanted to tell it. Messier than I’d hoped, but ain’t they all.
My schedule kept me from returning to illustrate a cover, format videos and produce this featurette for over a month, but that was a satisfying experience as well. I had a look lodged in my brain for how I wanted Cubicles to feel, and it’s captured much better in the cover than in the comic itself.
Well, again, glad I did it. You should do one. Hey, I’ll read it.
See you in 2007. Bring pens and paper. |
