Through a comic book message board, I got wind of a contest hosted by Morpheus Forge Entertainment in which participants can choose a character from their comics line, and enter an illustration of that character in some sort of Halloween-ish scenario. Prizes for the winners include cool stuff like art supplies and free comics, so I decided to give it a whirl. The details of the contest can be found here, by the way. The character that interested me the most was "The Drunken Monkey" (who is, near as I can tell, an alcoholic ape with some sort of magical techno-glove. I'm fairly sure he fights evil or something, but don't quote me on that). Most of the other entries that I've seen thusfar have involved bombastic, blood-hungry babes and trenchcoat-clad magicians battling it out with monsters... and that's pretty cool, but I thought it would be nicer to illustrate something a bit more fun, like pumpkin-carving. To me, it's a much more fun and sensible way to spend Halloween. I decided that the the Drunken Monkey would probably agree. |
